Re: Nyquist code for Normalize, Generate Tone
You need to take a bit of care with that Normalize code. NY:ALL is 1 giga-samples, as suggested in the manual, you may want a smaller constant if you have less than 4GB of memory. To generate a sine tone you can just use "osc" as the default table is a sine. Alternatively there are: sine(p...

Well if it's just that one file that is causing the issue, the finger of blame must be pointing at it.
If you could upload that file in full to sendspace or somewhere similar, I'll have a look at it.

Re: recording vinyl
I suspect the USB on the turntable has packed up. They are known to often be temperamental. (try searching the forum for "ION turntable"). Have you access to another computer that you could try it on?

Re: Novation Nio USB Audio/MIDI / Audacity
Windows will (usually) automatically pass control over to a USB device when it is plugged in. If you plug in a USB audio device, then Windows sets that as the default device for recording and playback, thus effectively disabling your on-board sound card. Your on-board sound can be re-enabled from th...

Re: voice recording over mp3
Apologies for the delay - finally got my internet sorted out (line fault).
I've kind of lost track of the story so far. Do you still have a problem, if so, could you give a quick recap on the situation. In particular, is the problem with one particular file?

Re: recording multiple tracks
It sounds very much like the problem is with your sound card AvenueK. My guess is that you are using either on-board sound, or a faulty sound card. If it plays back at a different speed to the recording speed, or the speed varies over time, then the problem is caused by the sound cards clock (timing...

Re: Skins/Themes And Other Display Options For Version 1.3.6
When you click on "Save Theme Cache" Audacity will create a file called "ImageCach.png" I'm not sure of the exact location on Windows, but Audacity should tell you when it has saved the file - I think it's something like: Documents and Settings<user name>Application DataAudacityT...

Apologies for the delay - I've been having line problems with my internet connection.
Go to: "Edit menu > Preferences > Audio Files"
Set "Make a copy of the file before editing (safer)"
Then try the recording test again.

Re: Crossfade Automation
Some kind of "fader automation track" (similar to or integrated with the time track) could be introduced. In this track, you can define "fader automation points in time". Each of these points defines a "fader position" (in dB, lower or equal zero) That is essentially w...

Re: mysterious gaps in recording using external microphone
My suspicion is that the problem lies with the sound card / drivers. It sounds to me that for some reason the sound card is running very inefficiently when recording and is simply not keeping up with the necessary data stream.
