Go into Preferences (from the Edit menu) and switch off the option to "show Metadata Editor prior to export step"
It is probably in the "Import/Export" tab.

I could take the needlessly long way out and route the headphone output from the KP3 into the microphone input on my computer, but I was hoping there would be a more intuitive way of going about it. Whether or not you can make the sound play repeatedly in your phone will depend entirely on whether your phone can do that.

If you want a short sample to play several times, you can use the "Repeat" effect to make a longer (repeated) track.

All development on Audacity 1.2.x ended some time ago (release of Audacity 1.4 is due soon)
You would be best to install a more up to date version - the current version is 1.3.7
