Standard WAV files do not support tags. There are variations on the WAV format (such as BWF) but these are not fully supported by Audacity.

Re: Building 1.3.7 beta from CVS - wxWidgets version mismatc

I think that you need a more recent version of wxWidgets than the one available through the Intrepid repository. You should use the wxwidgets repository: http://wiki.wxpython.org/InstallingOnUbuntuOrDebian Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) has Audacity 1.3.7. I would suggest trying that version. If you wish to b...

Re: Audacity crash after language selection -Illegal instruc

Have a look in your home folder. There should be a hidden file called ".audacity-data" Have an look in that folder and see if there is a file called "audacity.cfg" If there is, delete (or rename) it. The "audacity.cfg" file stores the Audacity Preferences. If that file ...

Re: Recording LP to CD

And when using the Amplify don't just accept the default to amplify fully to 0db - choke it back to -6db or so I don't agree (but it is good that we have room for different opinions) ;) We are talking specifically about amplifying (normalising) immediately prior to Exporting and burning to CD. Yes.
The 1.3 version has very many improvements over the old 1.2.6 version. All of the regular forum writers now recommend the 1.3 version.

Re: How does a .wav audio file being filtered

The filter functions in Nyquist, such as the low-pass, high-pass and notch filters are based on a biquad filter:

Re: A capella

It does indeed look impressive, and there have been occasions where I would have found such software very useful, but I notice that the demo is extracting notes from a chord from a track of one instrument, so it still requires a multitrack recording. Being able to pick out individual parts from a mu...

Re: Novation Nio USB Audio/MIDI / Audacity

Make sure that you have Windows drivers installed (WDM) - Audacity does not work with ASIO drivers.

Which version of Audacity are you using?
