Re: Voice insert in Audacity
An alternative to Kozikowskis' suggestion would be to record the foreign language track and insert a periods of silence that is greater than you will need at the appropriate places (you will probably be able to see the places from the visual appearance of the track). The easiest way to do this is to...

Re: Tone Generator
Funnily enough, the tone generators in Nyquist (a scripting language used in Audacity with which you can write your own effects and tone generators) uses MIDI note numbers - 60 is middle C, 61 is C#, 62 = D.... To generate the tone at a particular frequency in Hz, the MIDI note value is converted to...

Re: unicode
In practice it does not make much difference to the user, at least not for users that use English or any other language that uses the standard 26 letter alphabet.

Re: Audacity 1.3.7 + Vista x64 + Realtek HD Digital problem
Recording Devices: http://sounken.se/blandat/Recording.jpg You have the digital input of the sound card selected, but I suspect that you are trying to record from an analogue input. Set the default recording device to the one that you are using. If you still are unable to record (and you are sure t...

Re: Can't Get Audacity to record in Stereo (Vista)
First off I would recommend using Audacity 1.3.7 - there are many issues on Vista with the old 1.2.6 version that simply disappear by upgrading to the most recent 1.3 version.

Re: Using Audio Characteristics for another recording?
There are a number of reasons why the voices may sound different, and several of them you can do nothing about 1) The person was talking / singing differently 2) The place where the recording took place had different reverberation characteristics 3) The microphone placement was different 4) The pers...

Re: Record stops after 0.6 seconds. [Solved]
The patch is for 1.3.7 - it partially works with 1.3.8 alpha (the current cvs version) but it has been made specifically for the 1.3.7 version.person wrote:I updated from CVS and tried the patch you linked, but no luck.

Re: Crashes Windows Vista Build 6001: SP1
Upgrade to Audacity 1.3.7 - it is a lot more stable on Vista than the old 1.2 version (lots of other improvements too).

Re: an addin / method for removing bass distortion
Distortion is notoriously difficult to repair. If it is severe enough to sound bad it is usually too far gone to repair. You could have a go with the "Clipfix" plug-in, but you are likely to waste a lot of time for disappointing results. I would probably just bin it.
