Re: Only two tracks with Delta 44
The other software may be using ASIO drivers (Audacity can not be distributed with ASIO support due to licensing restrictions).
It may be worth trying Audacity 1.3.7 as it has better support for modern hardware.

Re: export sample rate setting
SoundBlaster Live! sound cards do run internally at 48kHz.
It is perfectly OK to work at 48kHz, then just before you Export your finished audio file, change the project sample rate to 44100 in the box in the lower left corner of the main Audacity screen.

Re: 403 Forbidden message
Assuming that you are using Windows, use the first link (the .exe file)
The link is working - I've just tried it. Perhaps there was a problem with the server when you tried.
If you still can not get it then you may need to download it on someone else's computer on a disk or memory stick.

Re: Yet Another Volume Question
So would you suggest that getting the volume closest to zero should suffice? Yes, but it must not go over or distortion will occur. Should I maybe use the Gain slider instead? Much easier to do with the "Amplify" effect. It is debatable whether it is necessary to leave "headroom"...

Re: new user... help!
Audacity makes "projects". These comprise of 2 parts: 1) a file called filename .aup 2) a data folder containing data that is used in the project. Neither of these are audio files! To create an audio file you need to "Export" (from the file menu) in the required format. Exporting...

DC offset removal
The "Normalize" effect provides an option for "DC Offset" correction, but does this do what we expect? DC Offset occurs when the recorded signal is incorrectly biased so that it is not centred on the 0.0 centre line. This may be caused by faulty hardware allowing a DC voltage to ...

Re: Use of Microsoft Microphone
Connect the USB microphone before opening Audacity.
Open Audacity and look in "Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O"
You need to set the recording and playback devices to match the devices that you are wanting to use.
