Re: Waveform

But I noticed another bug that must have crept in somewhere (Unfortunately, I can't say when): When you have several tracks you can't apply an effect to one track alone anymore, it's applied to ALL tracks. This goes only for additional effects, the built-in effect (from amplify to wah-wah) still wo...

Re: Lost drop down menu options

P.S. I installed Avast, but it insisted on starting with windows, which I DON'T want. Is there a way or running it, only when one wants to? It is possible to set up Avast as an "on demand" scanner only, but I don't remember off hand how to do it. It may be a set-up option, in which case y...

Re: dealing with the volume

The usual way to record a USB turntable is directly through the USB port and not to have the amp connected to the PC at all. The only reason for connecting the amp to the PC is if the USB does not work correctly. Information about setting up USB turntables for recording in Audacity here: http://auda...

Re: Snap-To Question

I thought these numbers were available in both 1.2 and 1.3, but I've not used 1.2 for a long time so you could be right. I would recommend upgrading to Audacity 1.3.7.

Re: I can't record from audio tape

This type of problem is much more common on Vista than on XP. Have a look in the Windows Control Panel. Some sound cards have their own icon in the Control Panel that gives access to hidden settings. The other places to look are in the "System icon > Device Manager" and check that the soun...

Re: Lost drop down menu options

I've not used either of those, but if you have them installed then it's probably easiest to try them.
I like Avast because it has a good detection rate, few false positives, and is also pretty good at removing viruses (and it's free - at least, free for personal home use).

A common reason for that is that the link points to your local file rather than the on-line file.

Re: Software playthrough unchecked causes slow playback

How very strange. Try this: 1) Close Audacity 2) Open "audacity.cfg" in Notepad You will find the file in: Users<user name>AppDataRoamingAudacity It is a hidden file, so you will need to enable hidden files. 3) Delete everything from the file except for the line: "NewPrefsInitialized=...

Re: Bug or my mistake?

I know it will take some time, but could you give us that step-by-step method - I'd like to try and reproduce the problem.
