Re: Recording from a Xio Synth
You could try Audacity 1.3.7 and see if you have more success with that. (hardware support is somewhat more advanced in Audacity 1.3.7)

Re: Audacity 1.3.7 playback stops
You may be able top work around this by zooming out to show the full project, thus eliminating the screen scrolling.

Re: Weird project / track problem
This may be due to a bug in the "Link Tracks" feature. Link Tracks can be switched off using the button on the Edit Toolbar http://audacityteam.org/manual/images/e/e5/StickyLinked.png More information about this feature: http://audacityteam.org/manual/index.php?title=Label_Tracks#Linking_l...

Re: Multi-track recording(?)
Thanks. Would you happen to know if the Fostex digital recorder work? There is a topic about which sound cards are known to work with Audacity here: http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9477 There's not many sound cards reviewed yet, but if you get the Fostex working, please post ...

Re: Audacity 1.3.7 not using my lame_enc.dll
In a similar forum thread, one of the Audacity developers gave this advice: I suggest you reset 1.3 Preferences properly by exiting Audacity, removing all content from audacity.cfg except "NewPrefsInitialized=1" and saving the changes. Then get rid of all copies of lame_enc.dll from your c...

Re: Can't find my .wav files
the save windows came up, and I saved as .wav. Only, nothing was saved. We need to be careful about terminology here - this is a common source of confusion so we need to be clear. Audacity does not "save" wav files. Audacity "saves" Audacity projects. Audacity "Exports"...

Re: Opening project hangs Audacity 1.3.7
I have two projects here now that when I open them, Audacity hangs. It gets as far as drawing the audio image, greys out the menus, does *not* pop up the "Inspecting..." window, and hangs itself. I have to kill it to recover. Ouch, that is nasty. I agree with your assessment that there is...

Also, if you have speakers connected to the computer they should be switched off while you record.

Re: Damsel in distress--any REALLY SMART knights around?
Is it possible for a normal, mainstream computer like mine (Toshiba Satellite laptop from late 2006 running Windows XP) to be unable to record streaming audio with Audacity Unfortunately that is a possibility, though it is more common on Vista machines. For some reason some manufacturers have produ...
