Re: Implementing a VAD in Audacity
Tried the link again and it's working now - must have just been a glitch. Without a lot of C programming experience I think that you will be struggling to make any headway into building Voice Activity Detection directly into Audacity (as a means of starting / stopping recording). However, if you are...

Lame not recognised in XP SP3 [Solution]
It has been reported by several users of Windows XP SP3 that the lame_enc.dll from the links on the Audacity website is not recognised by Audacity 1.2.6 If you have this issue, either update Audacity to 1.3.x and follow the instructions here: http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=91...

Record it again with the microphone further away from the person talking. During the recording process, something has been overloaded (could be the microphone, ...

Re: What does darker blue indicate?
Some say that the inner blue region is the RMS value. Others say that it is just an optical effect from zooming in on the waveform. Personally I'm not sure, but the most important part is the outer region which indicates the peak levels. In the example you have given, this indicates that there is cl...

Re: Unable to activate "effect"
Audacity needs to be in "Stop" mode. Effects are not available while Audacity is "Paused".

VST effects are not supported very well by Audacity. Have you tried G-Verb?

Re: Sharp 'S' in vocals
Some foams might help a little. Those little tie-tack microphones become slightly less bright when I put the foam blast filter on. I would agree with that. Also, the exact positioning of the microphone can make a big difference (some headsets are more adjustable than other in this respect). Placing...
