Re: FFmpeg Library
Yes there was a misprint in that version of Audacity. First the bad news: Audacity does not work with the version of FFmpeg that comes with Ubuntu 8.04 The good news, it works with the version that comes with Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) Also, the version of Audacity in Jaunty (1.3.7) has a lot of bug fixes...

Re: Xported mp3 file will not skip forward or backard
I agree it will be quicker to do it manually for a one-off rather than installing and figuring how to use yet another program.huntington wrote:although I appreciate you sending the link to that bulk renaming program, I will not use that.
Good luck with it
(by the way, I'm not Koz)

Re: Xported mp3 file will not skip forward or backard
I just realized what one problem is.... Hooray - that's what I was trying to say - so it has all come clear now. I know from the earlier attempts on this audio book, that data files files burned to a CD-R will play the Audio book properly on the CD player. Yes, some CD players will play data disks ...

Re: Hitching a ride on the green triangle???
your b key and cursor tip was the Schumann's Traumerei of suggestions: easy for the violinist to play but no less wonderful to hear for that simplicity. You will probably like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWYpN7IQC1s and yes I play the violin / fiddle (and also fiddle with gadgets) :D These...

Re: Hitching a ride on the green triangle???
A couple more tips to try. These work with Audacity 1.3.x - I can't remember for sure if they work with 1.2 but I think they do. Previewing a selection. 1) Select part of a track. 2) Put the mouse pointer a short way before the start of the selection and press the "B" key. 3) Put the mouse...

Re: Implementing a VAD in Audacity
I think that Audacity is fussy about file names.
Rather than naming the file "My Fade-in.ny" name it "myfadein.ny"
Also, you need to restart Audacity for new plug-ins to be found.
Other than that, your script should work.

Re: Simple Question (I think)
I think that developing a closer more understanding relationship would be a more effective solution. I don't know how you would respond, but my reaction to being covertly spied on by other members of my family would be extreme (even if it was for my own good).

Re: How to avoid noise
The big kids get around this by using separate dynamic (moving coil) microphones and special resistive attenuators between the microphone and the recorder. Alternatively you can use an audio recorder to record the sound (with a suitable microphone) and then synchronise it to the pictures when you e...

Re: Xported mp3 file will not skip forward or backard
To my surprise, Audacity exported each of the now labeled mp3 files separately all over desktop You can specify the destination in the Export Multiple dialogue window. The default location is the Desktop but you can "Choose" a different existing folder, or "Create" a new folder ...
