Re: FFmpeg Library

The Jaunty version of Audacity works fine on Ubuntu 8.10
I've not tried it on 8.04 and I've not tried FFmpeg on 8.04 either. If they don't work, it's simple enough to uninstall them.

The other alternatives are to build from the source code, or as you say, to wait.

Re: PLAY music, SING AND RECORD same time....

I have since upgraded my OS to windows 7 and I can no longer do this. It only records my mic and will not pick up and record sounds from any other prog...

Re: Antares Autotune

FYI, I'm working on an open-source pitch correction plugin. At the moment I've only compiled it for Linux, although since Audacity supports the LADSPA API it should be compilable for mac and windows too. It's a work in progress, but feel free to check it out: http://web.mit.edu/tbaran/www/autotalen...

Re: Record dying effect

Check out the plug-ins page on the main Audacity site. There's one called something like "Turntable Warp".

Re: Need help with fourier transform on audio

A bit beyond the scope of Audacity.
You may find something useful if you look at the code in this: http://sourceforge.net/projects/wave2mid/
(or you could try contacting the author)

Re: Wrong Number of Replies

I noticed another of those a couple of days ago
Probably a side effect of all these "Server Error"s that keep coming up.

(Ooh look - a post in the "Forum issues" section that is about a "Forum issue")

Re: is it possible to record something without listening to

Record on your computer and play on your X-Box/PS3/a pack of cards/cricket. You may be able to stream through WinAmp direct to disk and still play a game, but I've never tried it. Also, people often have enough trouble getting recording to run smoothly with no other programs running - playing a game...

"Chains" is pretty basic batch processing. It can't do that.
I can't think of any other program that can either.
