Re: Problem with Ubuntu that didn't have with XP3

What format is the file? WAV? MP3? OGG? ....
Try playing it in VLC (VLC can be installed with Synaptic if you do not have it already).

Re: How do I morph two mp3s together.

Use the volume slider on the left hand end of the track.
You will probably find a lot of useful information to get you started in the "Tutorials" (see link at top of page)

Re: hiss upon playback

If I wanted to go to two mikes, I'd guess that the no-phantom power Shure PG58 I have couldn't be used along with the new one (since I'd have to press the phantom power button on the pre-amp)? "Shure PG58" - not exactly a classic recording microphone, but not terrible either. You would ce...

Re: Filtering out a telephone touch tone.

You can adjust the narrowness of the notch filter by adjusting the "Q" parameter. The narrower the notch is, the less damage is done to the show, but if it is too narrow than it may miss the tone frequency altogether. In the code example given previously the "Q" factor was set at...

Re: hiss upon playback

I have it's sound and my voice both going into a mike, which I plug into the M-Audio line in. If you are really plugged into the "Line in" socket, then that will account for the problem. You should be plugged into a microphone socket. If you do not have a microphone lead with an XLR plug ...

Re: can't find cause of intermittant noise on playback

You can use an external USB sound card. I use a Behringer UCA 202. It is only suitable for line level sources (not microphones unless I also use a microphone pre-amp or mixing desk). One of the other regular forum contributors uses an Edirol ua-1ex. The Edirol is possibly a bit better, but costs a b...

Re: hiss upon playback

Pre-amps often have a sudden increase in noise when they are turned up to Max. Guitar outputs are typically a fair bit lower than line level so really the signal should be amplified a bit before it is fed into a line level input. If you don't have the equipment to do this, try turning down the gain ...

You need to have the same number of tracks selected before you paste.
