Re: copying and pasting
There's a lot of possibilities, but it is likely to be "user error", but unfortunately very difficult to guess exactly what without sitting with you and watching. The first thing to check is that you have not accidentally pushed the "pan" slider across to one side before mixing. ...

Re: Can't play audio
It plays what normally? You have not said what you are trying to play - where has it come from? Something you recorded? Something you downloaded?

Re: Export lacks "punch"
It's possible that your recorded tracks are just a little quieter than expected. Try this: 1) record something 2) select the full recorded track (double click on the track 3) from the effects menu select "Amplify" - the amplify effect will automatically be set to the maximum level without ...

Exactly which version of Audacity are you using? (Look in "Help > About Audacity")

Re: Audacity stops recording
The bad news is I have maybe gone and knackered it. Hopefully not. Can you record anything through it without using the "loop back" wire? (not sounds from your computer - can you plug an external source in and record). Can you play back previously recorded tracks through the USB sound car...

Re: Extracting vocal from song
As Koz said earlier, "about the same" copies will not cancel out completely. If the files were MP3s, then you will not be able to get them exact, there will always be some "leakage". The best that you can do is to get the two copies as close as possible, and that's as good as it ...

Re: Speeded up play-back in exported MP3s
I'm trying to wean myself off Cool Pro Edit, Don't do that, CEP is a wonderful program. I use Audacity for most of my editing because it's so quick and easy, but for a few jobs CEP is the better tool (for example Noise reduction, time stretch and volume envelopes). It's just a shame the Syntrillium...

Re: Exporting annoyances
Just done a bit of testing - it looks like Audacity can Import and Export metatag data for MP3 and Ogg files, but for Flac files it can only export metatag data and not import it. Let's see if this is just a Linux issue: http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=10703 after I opened a s...

Can Audacity import metatag data from Flac files?
On Linux it appears that Audacity is unable to import metatag data from Flac files. Is this the same on other platforms (Windows / Mac) ? Test method. (Ubuntu 9.04, Audacity 1.3.7) 1) Open Audacity 2) Generate a tone 3) Add some metadata using the Metadata Editor. 4) Export as a Flac file 5) Close a...

Re: iMic volume/noise issues
Got my fingers crossed while you go out and buy an XLR microphone lead :D If I remember correctly, your microphone is a ribbon mic? Don't forget that most brands of ribbon microphone are destroyed by phantom power. Check the manual if in doubt, but don't connect with an XLR lead with phantom power s...
