in particular, would it be sensible for me to migrate to 1.3.x? Yes definitely. The current version is 1.3.7, but keep checking the Audacity website as 1.3.8 is due out soon (or sign up at the bottom of this page for notification of the next release http://audacityteam.org/) I'm running XP Home SP3...

So far I tried "change speed", which solved the problem with the lenght but the audio quality got much weaker. The sound quality should be virtually unaffected by the "change speed" effect, however there will be some change in the pitch as well as the tempo. For your purpose thi...
