Re: recording in Vista not working
Any suggestions on how I can get Audacity to work in Vista? It's usually a case of getting Vista to work. Personally I would stick to XP for working with audio as it is much superior in this department, but that's evading your question. The secret answers usually lie in the Windows Control Panel. Se...

Re: Move Label Track
Any particular reason why you're hiding away at the end of this 2 year old topic DonW? You don't actually seem to be able to change a track label at all once you've created it. To change label names, just click on the name and change it. To change label positions, click and drag the blobs at the end...

Re: Don't want windows alert sounds?
If your sound card is set to record "Stereo Mix" then it will send a mix of ALL sounds on your computer to Audacity. It's up to you to instruct your sound card which audio input you want to use. You do that with the "Windows Mixer". On XP you can usually access the Windows Mixer ...

Re: how do you use audacity to aply gain ,distortion , etc
IMO the best way is to use a guitar amp (optionally with fx pedals) and record it with a microphone. Other methods include using a hardware amp-simulator (such as the Line 6 Pod) or using VST effects in a suitable VST host program (such as http://www.audioforums.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-8327.h...

Re: Record in multiple tracks with "M-audio 44"
It all depends on the sound card drivers. Audacity can only record from one "device" at a time. Some multi-channel sound cards use a single multi-channel device driver (the nice way to do it). This will generally appear in the recording device options as "multi" or something like...

Re: Recording from vinyl, level too high
I have one of those, and I'm very pleased with it, however if I was buying again I may perhaps save up the extra bit of cash and go for the Edirol UA 1EX for the extra features - I would certainly be considering it.sjrooney wrote:I'll probably invest in a Behringer UCA202.

Re: Clear sound to little or no fuzzy sound
Without a lot more information it could be anything. Start by describing your set-up (make/model numbers are good). What's connected to what? What are you trying to record? The more detail the better.

Re: A Few Questions about 1.2.6
As Koz says, there is no real reason why you have to record at the end of the current recording as it is simply a matter of using the time shift tool to drag your audio clips left/right to where you want them. It does not matter that different bits are in different tracks, when you Export your audio...

Re: Recording skip fixed via swap?
I was reading through the FAQ and somewhere in there it said if you have 1G of ram or better that you should have a smaller swap so that the program doesn't use the slower swap memory thus producing skippy recordings. I think that is unlikely unless you are running a lot of other applications at th...
