Re: How to record audiobook at home

sbilheimer wrote:What settings do you use and what software do you use for editing? Thanks!
The settings depend on what I am doing. For quick and rough recordings (rehearsals) I use VBR. For high quality recording I use CD quality WAV.
I edit with Audacity of course. :D

Re: Default sample rate

MP3 encoding will automatically downsample audio to a lower bit rate if the original is in a higher bit rate than the compression setting support.
The highest quality MP3 format is "320kbps CBR" which is excellent quality, but still lower quality than a 48kHz 16 bit WAV file.

Re: can't activate audacity

You need to download it again - you have the wrong program. Audacity is free and does not require any form of registration. The download location is hosted by Sourceforge who use advertising to support the cost, so you need to take a bit of care that you do not accidentally click on one of the adver...

Re: Multichannel output

Ah yes, if you can harness ASIO, then you are in with more of a chance. Audacity does not support ASIO by default due to licensing restrictions, but it is possible to build Audacity with ASIO support. (see here for more information http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=ASIO_Audio_Interface )....

George13 is correct, the function you require is available in Audacity 1.3. If you really want to pay for a program to do it, see here: http://audacityteam.org/community/donate#donate
