Re: What can be done to stop the accumulation of hiss ?
I'm not sure that you can "hear it clearly". -76dB is low level and below the noise floor of many domestic amplifiers. The noise that you can see is caused by dithering. If you create a silent track in Audacity and export it as a 32 bit WAV file there will be no dithering applied and it re...

Re: Bit Rate
Uncompressed CD quality audio is around 10MB per minute. (Around 600MB for a 1 hour CD). In Audacity 1.3.x the default bit depth is better than CD quality - set at 32 bit. That means that each sample value is stored as a 32 bit number (extremely accurate and ideal for digital processing) whereas CD ...
Re: Windows 7
Windows 7 is beta software and is not officially supported.
I would suggest that you try Audacity 1.3 rather than the old 1.2
As Windows 7 is based on Vista, you may find useful information here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... s_Vista_OS
Do let us know how you get on.

Re: Time lapse between tracks (Linux)
As you can probably tell. I am a big fan of Audacity, but Ardour is fantastic for recording and well worth the effort.
Sound Blaster Audigy + ALSA + Audacity should work nicely, though I am surprised that you have posted on the Audacity 1.2.x part of the forum - what version of Audacity do you have?

Re: Mixer help
The set-up for Cubase is completely different to set-up for Audacity. (Refer to the Cubase manual/forum for help with Cubase). For setting up Audacity, download and install Audacity 1.3.7. If Audacity 1.3.7 does not work straight away, go to the "Help" menu and click on "Audio Device ...

Re: Help With An Off Vocal Track (sample mp3 included)
I know there's clipping (but it doesn't seem like much) screenshot.png That is quite a lot of clipping and is very audible. The clipping is by far the number 1 place for improvement. In order to get a sufficient level in the vocal without clipping you will probably need to use a compression effect....

Re: Sample Rates
Don't paste into the same track - keep each on its own track. Audacity 1.2 does not support multiple sample rates in the same track (Audacity 1.3 does). The two audio clips do not need to be in the same track. Simply use the "Time Shift Tool" (double headed arrow) to drag left/right so tha...
