Attached is version 1 of my "Stutter" effect.
Unzip it into your Audacity plug-ins folder and then restart Audacity. It should then be listed in the Effects menu.
I am writing a more flexible "version 2" of this effect, so any feedback on this first version is most welcome.

Re: Input selector greyed out! (Win XP)
Some DVDs have copy protection, but that is not the cause of this problem. The most likely cause is simply due to the huge amount of data throughput that is going on. Your computer is trying to maintain a continuous stream of data from the DVD to the video card, while at the same time maintaining a ...

Looks like it would.
Make sure that it is switched to "Line" and not "Phono".

Unless you know how to write drivers, have a look at Reaper, KRISTAL Audio Engine, and Waveosaur (or use your old machine).

Re: Missing Time Window
Yes I can see that being useful. I presume that -10000 makes the cursor jump back 1 minute. A couple of things though - Audacity can use different frame rates, or milliseconds, so would it be linked to the current setting? The "1" key is already a hot key (but not on the numeric keypad, at...

Re: Pitch Change2
Yes you can do that in Audacity. With that detailed description I can tell exactly what you are wanting to do. 1) Record your first track 2) Press Ctl+D to make a duplicate of the track (this is so that we get better sound quality by not doing a double conversion on it) 3) Mute the original track 4)...

Re: Like Your Input for Audacity Use on our Radio Show
I would suggest that you do everything in 48kHz WAV format, then when you have finished (and Exported your master mixdown as a WAV file), Export a second copy for the radio station as an MP3 set at best quality (320kbps CBR). Professional audio usually uses uncompressed audio at either 44.1 or 48kHz...

Re: What can be done to stop the accumulation of hiss ?
Sorry for the delay - my internet connection has been down this evening. As Koz said, Audacity processes internally at 32 bit. When you Export the audio as a 16 bit file, dither is added. The dither noise is introduced when down-sampling from 32 bit to 16 bit. Importing a 16 bit file or up-sampling ...

The other option is to get an inexpensive USB soundcard (such as the Behringer UCA 202) and use a loopback connector (an audio lead to connect the output to the input). The USB device can also be used to give you excellent sound when played through a hi-fi system, or recording from cassette tape etc.
