It sounds like you are doing it right. Are you using "Export" to output your audio file?
This may be a limitation in Audacity 1.2. Can you upgrade to 1.3? (don't worry about the warnings about it being beta software. These days it is more stable than the 1.2.6 version).

The screen shots suggest that the files have idtag (metatag) data? That is not standard for WAV format and could be the cause of the problem. If you download SUPER by erightsoft (free) you can "convert" them from WAV format to WAV format (enable "stream" to ensure that it is loss...
