Make sure that you have the latest WDM drivers installed. They are available from the Alesis web site.

Re: Recorded track but won't play back or save file

I'm running Audacity on a Windows XP machine that has very little space left on the drive. I don't know if this could be a factor or not. Yes that can certainly be a problem. To run audio recording software you must have lots of free space. For Audacity, that free space should be on your C: drive. ...

Re: problem opening stored project

Have you recorded anything else onto the H2 yet? If not - don't. My guess is that you have not got Audacity set to make copies of imported audio files, so it is expecting to find the data in the original location (drive F - which I assume was your H2). If this is the case, then your only chance of r...

Re: Best recoding of mono sound from hand held digital recor

Don't export as MP3, export in WAV format. MP3 is a "lossy" compression format which lowers the sound quality. Check in the SoundBlaster mixer that your recording source is set to "Line in" (assuming that you are recording through the Line-in input) and not set for "What U H...

Re: rejection of wav-files as "not being wav-files"

This is not a "forum issue" - this section of the forum is for asking or discussing things about the forum, such as do you like the colour scheme, how to post images.... There are sections for Windows/Mac/Linux which tells us what platform you are on, and there are sections for Audacity 1....

Re: Sound Input Error

As waxcylinder said - look at your sound-card settings and ensure that you have a valid audio device (sound card) selected for both recording and playback. (Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O) If your sound card is not available as a recording device, open the control panel and enable a recording i...

Re: How to make a song play at gradually increasing volume?

I tried opening the file and it says: "Safari can’t open the file “ESP_fade_by_dB.ny” because no available application can open it." The file that you want to open is ESP_fade_by_dB.ny.zip (the archive file that you downloaded), inside of which is the ESP_fade_by_dB.ny file. I thought tha...

Re: Autotalent by Tom Baran

Use Synaptic to install "swh-plugins". There are a lot of very useful effects in this lot and it should also sort out creating the usr/lib/ladspa folder. You can then either use the command line to move the .so file, or move it in Nautilus (the default file browser in Ubuntu) or any other ...

Re: How to make a song play at gradually increasing volume?

Try this plug-in (see attachment).

Download the zip file and extract into your Audacity plug-ins folder.
When you restart Audacity it will be listed in the Effects menu.
If you are using a version of Audacity with "Effects Categories" enabled, it will appear in the Mixer effects section.
