Re: 1.3.8 changes

It says "•Record more than 16 channels (hardware/drivers permitting)" The key phrase here is: (hardware/drivers permitting). Many multi-channel audio devices use ASIO drivers to support multi-channel recording, and unfortunately due to licensing restrictions Audacity can not be shipped wi...

Re: Error opening project

All tags should be in pairs. A tag uses a keyword within chevrons and there should always be an "opening" tag and a "closing" tag. The closing tag has a forward slash immediately after the opening chevron. For example <waveclip> ..... </waveclip> The opening tag may also contain ...

Re: Error opening project

You have an opening tag for <project> in Line 3, and a closing tag </project> in the last line (the "/" indicates that it is a closing tag).
Do a word search for "project" - there's probably an extra one somewhere else.

Re: Multiple Inputs

No. Audacity can only record from one device at a time.
I think that Wavosaur may be able to record from more than one device at a time.

Re: worse mp3 quality since 1.3.7

Audacity does not contain an MP3 encoder. On Linux it will use the Lame encoder that is installed on your system, so updating or back dating Audacity will make no difference to the quality of MP3s. I use Jaunty with Lame 3.98-0.0 and the MP3 quality is as I would expect (ranging from "not too b...

Re: command or switches for audicity 1.3 Beta

The command line options for Audacity are very limited. All you can do with Audacity from the command line is open files and that's all.

Re: Sound "compression" when recording

I've come across this issue with on-board sound cards, and as Koz explained it is generally caused by the clock signal in the sound card for playback running at a slightly different speed to when it is recording. However I have not come across this before with these Behringer devices, and certainly ...

Re: Multiple Inputs

I wish to buy a MIDI to USB adaptor for my Keyboard so I can record Vocals through the USB Mic and the accompaniment through the MIDI to USB connector. MIDI is not audio. MIDI signals are just control data that allows devices to communicate with each other. You would "record" MIDI data in...

Do you have a text editor that has line numbering? I don't use Macs so I'm not sure what is available, but for fixing these kind of issues you really do need line numbers.

Re: Record stops after 0.6 seconds. [Solved]

I ve read here and there that the best version of ubuntu studio to this day is 8.04. Do you think that getting rid of jaunty and moving to 8.04 could solve my problem? It could. I've used Ubuntu 8.04, 8.10 and 9.04 and Jaunty (9.04) was the most difficult to get the sound system working properly. T...
