Re: Multiple Inputs
I will get the Behringer ULTRAVOICE XM8500 XLR mic for it as well Not great mics for recording. This is a budget microphone for stage use, but how well it works for you depends on what you are wanting to record. I presume my JACK out on my keyboard which is a lineout is fine for putting into the Li...

Re: Where is the time window?
You need the 1.3 beta version of Audacity. The audio position is displayed at the bottom toward the right hand side of the Selection Toolbar.

Re: How to set recording levels at multitrack project?
on 1.3.6 the playback of just 4 tracks (obviously entailing implicit realtime mixing) sometimes produces intermittently garbled sound, despite having a rather new pc with quite decent specs. With a reasonable spec. computer you should be able to get better than that. That's about on par (or slightl...

Re: Multiple Inputs
I see, I have set my eyes on a Behringer XENYX 1204 Premium Mixer to invest in so that I can do all of this and much more in the future! Using Audacity as my recording software. I've used the big brother of that (the 2442 FX) and it's not bad at all (excellent for the money, though handle it with c...

Re: RE-RECORDS THE TRACK AUTOMATICALLY
I presume that you are using Windows? Open the Windows Mixer (or sound card control panel) by double clicking (or right clicking) on the loudspeaker icon near the clock (bottom right corner of screen). Set the recording input to "Mic" or "Line-in" (depending on which you are usin...

Re: Ideas on Audacity release 1.3.8 Timeline
Audacity 1.3.8 beta release - Tue Jul 21 2009 21:30 I think the release of Audacity 2.0 has over-run slightly from the developers original timeline, but you can register for e-mail notification of new releases at the bottom of this page: http://audacityteam.org/ ALSO, we can be assured that many of ...

Re: Multiple Inputs
It can be done on Linux using the ALSA pcm_multi plugin, though doing so requires a bit of hacking, so is not straightforward. There has not been much interest in developing a graphical application for this because of the inherent hardware limitations involved (see below), but there is some informat...

Re: Record stops after 0.6 seconds. [Solved]
I dream of the day when the sound system is finally sorted out on Linux (if only it was as simple and user friendly as XP - but let's not talk about Vista). Jackd is fantastic IF you can get it working properly, but unfortunately that can be problematic, particularly on older hardware (works great o...

Re: How to set recording levels at multitrack project?
I'm used to the approach of recording the individual track as strong as possible without clipping, You should aim for a reasonably high recording level, but there is no need to be as fussy with digital recording as the noise floor of the recording medium (digital data) is incredibly low. Just make ...

Re: peaking at .5
Typically the volume controls in Audacity have no effect on USB audio devices. The same is generally true of the Windows Mixer. Some USB audio devices have only hardware adjustment of input level (0.0dB on the hardware should produce 0.0dB on the computer). Some USB audio devices have a special appl...
