Audacity does not do "Live".
You can record one or more tracks and then edit and mix them, then Export the final mix as a WAV or an MP3 file, but you can't do it "Live" with Audacity.

Re: Bug in Timer Record...
When the recording starts you should see a "Timer Record Progress" window with a progress bar. Below the progress bar is the "Time Elapsed" (which should increase as the recording progresses) and the "Time Remaining" (which should count down). When the "Time Elapse...

Re: Differences Between Mic and Line-In
I'm assuming that you are using the internal version of this sound card and not the USB version. It's been a while since I used a SB card on Windows, so apologies if this is not 100% accurate. Look near the system clock for the icon for the SoundBlaster Mixer (may be called "Creative Sound Mixe...

Re: saving edited file
I've also just had that with Audacity 1.3.8 on Linux. I've not found out why yet. I Exported all the tracks as WAV files, closed the project without saving, then opened a new project and imported the WAV files. The project now saves OK. I'll post here again if I find out more. Please post again if y...
