According to the Audacity documentation (not being a Mac user myself), on Mac OS X, it is usually under "Applications."

Re: Can anyone test "Plot Spectrum" in Audacity 1.3.8
Thanks Gale, I've not yet read the "Numerical Recipes in C" - can't open it in Evince, and don't currently have Acrobat installed - also probably a bit heavy for bedtime reading - but the "bins" explanation worked for me. I look forward to reading the full explanation in the manu...

Re: Can anyone test "Plot Spectrum" in Audacity 1.3.8
The spectrum is off the scale. Reduce the Meter/Waveform dB Range on the interface tab of Preferences Gale But why is it off scale in Audacity 1.3.8 and on scale in previous versions of Audacity? Both images below show a range of -90dB to -80dB, but in Audacity 1.3.8 the peak is at around -110dB ra...

Re: Drop in octave when track imported
If the file plays an octave down, then it is playing at half speed. Click on the name of the track, then on "Change Rate.." and change the Sample Rate to double its current setting. The track should now play correctly. If you now Export this track, the Exported file should play correctly w...

Re: Making song easy to learn
And are you asking how to do that? If you've not used Audacity before (or even if you have) there are some good tutorials in the "Tutorials" link at the top of this page which will help you get to grips with the basics of Audacity. To repeat a section - select the section, then click on &q...

Re: How to make a song play at gradually increasing volume?
I don't know about the BOM helper, but if you are having trouble opening the Zip file, here's the code: ;nyquist plug-in ;version 1 ;type process ;categories "http://lv2plug.in/ns/lv2core#MixerPlugin" ;name "Fade by dB" ;action "Applying Fade..." ;info "Fade by dBn...

Re: Remove Low-Level Hum
Use Audacity 1.3.8 If you are on Vista, read this before installing: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Windows_Vista_OS Hums can come in various flavours. Usually they are caused by interference from the mains electricity supply. Of course it is best to try and avoid them in the first pla...

Re: Temporary Top Window stops Audacity from running.
I've not seen this error for a long time - are you using an old version of Audacity? The current version is 1.3.8 I've done a search on the forum and found quite a few posts about this, mostly pretty old ones. Do you have FruityLoops or FL Studio installed on your computer? Have you ever? Unfortunat...

Re: 1.3.8 changes
yes ADAT, as in an ADAT recorder. The old Alesis recorders that use SVHS tapes to record on. As I said, I'd go analog and use a 2" tape if I could afford it or do the upkeep on them. Nice - yes I liked the old 2" tape, but ouch! it was getting way too expensive (it never was cheap). I lik...
