Re: Vocals Sound "Weak"
and what is the best way for me to share my tracks with you? We don't need the whole song, just a few seconds of a representative portion is usually enough, but it needs to be in a high quality format, so WAV, FLAC or a "Extreme" high quality MP3 (320kbps) or Ogg at the highest quality se...

Re: multi-track recording guitar
You are listening through headphones? Where are they plugged in? If they are plugged into the computer sound card then you need to set the computer sound card as the playback device in "Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O".

Re: recording_volume
i remember old (analog of course) recorders where recording volume could be set automatically for best results... i suppose there is no such thing in audacity? There is an experimental new feature that is currently being developed to do this. It works slightly differently to the "Automatic Gai...

Re: Joint Stereo
Yes, but why do you want that?
You can choose Joint Stereo as an Export option in Audacity 1.3 when Exporting as MP3 (using the recommended version of Lame for Audacity). However encoding (or re-encoding) to MP3 causes some loss in sound quality.

Re: Echo on Recording & Playback.
Having looked in Edit > Properties > Interface, I see that the CleanSpeechMode box is NOT ticked. Could THIS be the reason for the echo that I am getting....?? No. Clean Speech Mode changes the Audacity interface, it does not change any of the sound system settings. It should be switched off (as it...

Re: Record stops after 0.6 seconds. [Solved]
It wasn't a fault on the CD, it was because of a lack of RAM as i found out later. That would do it. Probably a good ide to increase the RAM on te machine if possible. Although Linux will run with very little RAM, it will benefit a lot from extra RAM. It's installed now and running almost perfectly...

Re: latency problems
but they dont have any service of their own, but I will have to hand in the whole machine and then it's gone for at least a month, is my guess. That's the down side of low prices and such slim profit margins - there's no money for customer service. I would definitely try getting them to change the ...

Re: All sound recorded with static :(
What are you actually recording from? Where's the sound that you are recording coming from? Are you recording from a cassette player / a microphone / sounds from your web browser...? The problem is to do with the "Record" level rather than the Playback" level. We need to see the lower...

Re: Wave Files 16bit PCM or 32bit Float
Do you know if it would have worked on windows 98 though? as that is what I have been using ever since I got a computer Win98 ! You remember I mentioned "obsolete software"? Windows 98 has been officially obsolete for over three years. I know that Audacity 1.2.6 and Audacity 1.3.7 still s...
