Re: Help with editing large files in Audacity
MP3Split. It's a free, open source MP3 editor for Linux, Mac or Windows. You will find the Windows version here: http://mp3splt.sourceforge.net/mp3splt_page/downloads.php As an editor it doesn't do much - as the name suggests, it splits MP3 files into shorter bits, but it does so losslessly. The MP3...

The latest Windows version of Audacity is available from here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Nightly_Builds#Windows_Binaries Also, in case you have any...

Re: Improving the sound of a real piano recording
What you can't fix in post production is the comb effect caused by the echoes. I suspect the comb type effect that you can hear in Mike's clip is caused by Noise Removal rather than the acoustics of the room. It would be helpful to hear a "straight" (unprocessed) recording. In well damped...

Re: PCM Header problems
Audacity works internally with 32 bit uncompressed audio data. It would possibly be more accurate to describe Audacity as a "production environment" rather than a sample editor (though people would generally have no idea what that means, so it just gets called a multi-track audio editor). ...

Re: Recording Over Previously Recorded Sounds
Is there any way to go back to a previous point in the recording, and record over what has already been recorded? No, not directly. The way that it seems to work right now is you create a new track by stopping, navigating backwards, recording. You don't need to "navigate backwards". Just ...
