For now I think that you will have to work around the problem and Export with a different file name.
Audacity 1.2 will be replaced very soon by Audacity 2.0, so there will be no more updates to the 1.2.x series.

Let's deal with that first - there's not much point in trying to sort out problems with Lame if there are problems with your base Audacity install.
