Re: Randomly stops recording
we were able to record audio into Audacity WHILE recording video from firewire in WMM. It does not surprise me that you are having problems, and agree with Koz that you were probably lucky to ever have it working. If you are recording in Audacity while simultaneously recording video in WMM, your co...

Re: Create master for vinyl
Are there any tutorials on this? Not that I know of. Not many people make vinyl these days. I have 2 wav songs that my band wants to make a 7" vinyl record of. How can we use Audacity to create a audio-master that will be accepted for vinyl-pressing? You will need to make a high quality record...

Re: academic reporting of Audacity
Sounds were digitized at 44.1 kHz (16 bit resolution) - or whatever you are using and analysed with Audacity version ??? software - the Audacity version that you are using (1024-point Hanning window fast Fourrier transform, FFT). Spectral data was obtained by plotting data using: Function (window ty...

Re: effect only applies to half of selection
I don't think that any of the regular posters here use the 1.2 version of Audacity any more. Try updating to the 1.3 version and if you have problems you're a lot more likely to find someone that can help. You don't need to uninstall 1.2 in order to install 1.3 - just don't try running them at the s...

Not enough info.
If I want to duplicate your set-up, what do I need? How do I get my set-up identical to yours?

Re: using the noise reduction in version 1.3.7
My usual settings are usually in the region of:
24
150
0.15
Make sure that you use a good "Noise Profile" - it should ideally be a couple of seconds or more and contain only noise (no music).

Re: Get error message when I use save as...
I use the Audacity 1.2.6 version. ... In any event, identifying the source of the problem and solving it would be much appreciated (even if it is an OS issue). Any issues with Audacity 1.2.x will not get fixed. All work on the 1.2 version ended a long time ago. The new "stable" version of...

Re: Dynamic Rumble Filter
http: // sound.westhost.com/project99.htm That's an 18dB per octave high-pass filter, and being a hardware device allows you to roll off sub-sonic (below 20Hz) frequencies of records while you play them. For post processing, (processing sounds that have already been recorded), you can do exactly th...

Re: Dynamic Rumble Filter
P.S. It might be an advantage to change " gate frequencies above 20 " to say 5HZ to remove subsonic turntable frequencies. I "think" that setting "Gate Frequencies Above: 20Hz" actually disables that filter, so it is the same as "Gate Frequencies Above: 0Hz"....
