Re: Exporting as MP3 or WAV
you can (and probably should) reset your Audacity preferences so the metadata editor dialog is suppressed on export. I can't tell you exactly how to find as I am doing a Timed Recording at the moment so the Preferences dialogs are not available to me. Edit menu > Preferences > Import/Export > "...

<<<Does you computer have a conventional (non USB) sound card?>>> Several, plus the built-in. OK - I missed that bit.c  I would start by disabling the on-board sound card (in BIOS, or better - on the mother board if there is a "shunt" link for doing so). Then I'd see if I could fix ...

If your sound card is bundled with an obsolete version of Audacity, then you may very we...

Re: Dynamic Rumble Filter
Here's an example of standard HP filter which can be used for to filter those rumble/subsonic frequencies. Cool - but that's just a HP filter isn't it? Can you make it dynamic? BTW, if you want a steeper slope than 48dB per octave, then with the standard Audacity HP filter, you can simply use the t...

Re: USB connection has problems
Make sure that you are using the ALSA drivers and not the old OSS drivers. If that does not fix it then unless you fancy doing some fairly major manual updating to quite a lot of bits of your system it may be best to stick with XP until you upgrade to Jaunty (or later). One of the really good points...
