Re: academic reporting of Audacity
i tried the noise removal, but its just TOO aggressive!! Even when turned down to minimum? If so, there is a little trick to make it more gentle - before you make the Noise Profile, reduce the level of the audio that you are using as the "noise" sample (use the Amplify effect with a negat...

Re: Repair Big Room Cave sound
There's not much you can do about it. Reverb is notoriously difficult to remove.
The usual method is to try applying Equalization (Effects menu) to bring out the spoken word a little more clearly (usually by boosting frequencies in the 700Hz to 2.5kHz range a little, and lowering bass frequencies.

Re: Change Audacity Sound Input
Apple don't really like you to do that, so you need to use additional software.

Re: Crash recovery failure 1.3.8
That's a pretty big project - around 20GB of data in 20000 little file fragments, and that's before any editing. As soon as you do any editing Audacity will start making duplicates for the Undo History. The largest file size for a WAV file is 4GB (this is the limit for the WAV format). The current v...

Re: Recording from Guitar Rig 2 into Audacity... is it possi
Your best bet is probably to try Wavosaur or some other recording program that supports ASIO. You can Export WAVs from Wavosaur then Import into Audacity for editing and mixing.

Re: academic reporting of Audacity
I managed to get the pdf open, but it was also wellover my head. Like a jet plane at 40 thousand feet - yes, I know what you mean :D If I take the fish sound spectrum, and export it, so I have a value for each bin, then take a similar length sample from before the fish sound occured to represent &q...

Re: Export as WAV as a menu item
Just to be sure, though, that means there's no longer a way to set up one shortcut (say, CTRL-ALT-OPTION-w) for "Export as WAV" and another (say, CTRL-ALT-OPTION-m) for "Export as MP3"? That's correct, though unlike Audacity 1.2, in Audacity 1.3, switching from WAV Export to MP3...

Re: Get error message when I use save as...
Version 1.2.6 is listed as the newest stable version Yes, we are all aware of that, and many of us on the forum think that it is misleading. Audacity 1.2.6 was the last of the 1.2.x series. Way back in time, the Audacity developers began work on a new experimental version of Audacity - this was rel...

Re: Use as a WAV editor
Bye bye Audacity. I thought it could be used as a simple WAV editor. It can. I could have sworn I used to be able to double-click a WAV file, edit it and then save it back to disc. If you associate WAV files with Audacity, you can open them in Audacity with a double click. You must EXPORT audio fil...
