Re: Metadata - where does it go?!

The metadata editor in 1.2 only pops up after the export dialogue.

ID3 tags are notoriously non-standard, so it is often best to use the tagging features in the software that you will be using. For an iPod, tagging in iTunes is most likely the way to go.

Re: Audacity will not open

You need to reset Audacity's preferences. Use the "Safe Solution" described here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Audacity_Preferences#Resetting_Preferences_to_defaults When you have done that, it is probably a good opportunity to upgrade to Audacity 1.3.9 (the 1.2 series is n...

laura8825 - that sounds so much like spam that I've removed the link.
Anyone wanting to buy media conversion software, {word rejected}, * Word Rejected * or wow gold can do so without coming to this forum for links.

Re: Eliminate long pauses from a speech

If the long pauses are very quiet (no background noise) then you may be able to use "Truncate Silence" (Effects menu - Audacity 1.3)

If there is background noise, then there's probably no alternative to manual editing.

1.3.9 is now officially released and has bug fixes that are missing from 1.3.8, so 1.3.9 is probably the best option.
(just upgraded on Linux and 1.3.9 rocks! )

Re: 78 vinyl records to cd

Audacity and ION are not related. ION have chosen to bundle Audacity with their products, though often the included version is a rather old version. The latest version of Audacity is available (free) from the main Audacity web site. At this time, the recommended version is Audacity 1.3.9. Many owner...

Re: I can't Record

It's not a download failure. That message means that Audacity cannot connect to your audio hardware. If you are on Vista, it is probably because you do not have a recording input enabled, in which case you need to go into the Windows Control Panel and enable an input device. See here for help with t...

Re: Left Channel Silent(?)

If you are getting a 2 channel recording and one channel is flat-line but the other channel is OK, then I would strongly suspect the problem is a lead / plug / or something wrong with the device that you are recording.

Re: No Audio I/O tab in Preferences

See if you can change the wireing round and make it switch to recording only the right channel. If you are on Vista there may be something in the Windows Control Panel that sets recording to mono/stereo. If that does not work you will have to get into the detail and tell us exactly what you have and...

Re: Clipping

That version of Audacity is about 5 years past its sell by date. The first thing I'd suggest is updating Audacity. You're in luck - Audacity 1.3.9 has just been released - that's the version to go for. If that does not solve the problem, send a new post to the Mac / Audacity 1.3.x part of the forum....
