it doesn't do it in Cubase or ProTools, or SAM Broadcaster, but it DOES do it in sndrec32 and Audacity That's very interesting. I wonder if it a driver issue. sndrec32 and Audacity use the Windows drivers, but the other applications may be using ASIO. See if there any updated drivers for your sound...

"Software Playthrough" will always cause a substantial delay - usually about half a second or more. Windows will almost always support hardware playthrough when using an internal sound card, or on-board sound, and for this "software playthrough" should be OFF (not selected). Hard...

If it is distorting at half level then you are most probably overloading something in the signal chain before the signal gets to the computer.

I thought that iPods could play tracks one after the other without any problem, but if this is not the case, then yes you can join multiple tracks together into one long track with Audacity. Just Import the tracks, use the Time Shift tool (double headed arrow) to position them so that one starts aft...
