Re: Getting at the Help manuals

The help folder is inside the Audacity folder, at the same level as Audacity itself, I'm not a Mac user, but in the absence of anyone else..... If you mean that it's in the same folder as the Audacity executable, then that is not where I have it on my (Linux) machine. I don't know where Macs put th...

Re: Make fails with `line 52: aclocal-1.10: command not foun

As I said in the other thread, I don't have any system taglib, That's the trouble with splitting a topic - people (me) don't remember everything that was in the other topic. so it is supposed to be building audacity with a "local" taglib. I would have thought so, but I really don't know e...

Re: Jack not recognized in Audacity

I'm getting way out of my depth here you know :) Mostly I fix it with lots of trial and error and a lot of Googling. If there's a magic bullet, I don't know what it is. there is no "audio" group, Try opening a Terminal window and typing cat /etc/group I think you should have something like...

It's not illegal, but in my opinion it's immoral.

If you are using Vista, go to the Control Panel and enable a recording device.

Re: Jack not recognized in Audacity

I've just noticed something very weird on my system. Audacity works on my laptop (1.3.7, 1.3.9 and 1.3.10-alpha) IF I set it up to use jack while I have a USB sound card connected. I don't have to use the USB sound card, and I can disconnect it once Audacity has been set up to use Jack. I've posted ...

Re: Choppy Playback in 1.3.5 on Ubuntu 9.04

I have played with Preferences>Audio I/O Audio to buffer and Latency correction settings.? They are not going to make any difference. Your best bet is probably to go back to Audacity 1.3.7 and we'll see if we can get that version going. What sort of specification is your computer? To remove any set...

Re: Make fails with `line 52: aclocal-1.10: command not foun

As I said in the other thread, I think you need a later version of tag-lib I don't know if this would work, but you could try running configure with: --with-lib-preference whether to use local and/or system libraries, in order of preference (default="system local") and changing the order t...

Re: Why can't I record in stereo with my USB turntable ?

It sounds to me like you may have a faulty turntable.
I'll ask one of the other forum regulars to drop by to see if he has any other ideas. (someone that has actually used a USB turntable).

Re: Jack not recognized in Audacity

Have you had any problems with Jack in the past? Oh yes. On some hardware I have been completely stumped, but usually I can get it going - eventually. Every time I need to set it up on a machine I end up spending all day on it - Googling my brains out, searching the Ubuntu forum, and fiddling with ...
