Re: Chris's Compressor - Three Queries
2. When applied to a piece 90 seconds long it compressed the first 6 seconds of speech then truncated the file at that point so that 1 min 24 of audio was lost. Is there a reason this might happen and a setting I can change to prevent this? I've just had a look at this, and there's definitely a bug...

Re: remove coughs
Finding and fitting a replacement of required pitch, dynamics and duration is a non trivial exercise, especially in some music (eg mixed piano & singing) But many times it CAN be done, both effectively and relatively easily, without the need for advanced degrees in acoustics, mathematics and com...

Re: Copy/paste partially muted
The selected fragment played well at source and as long as pasted in new place, What is the "at source" that you refer to? What exactly do you mean "in a new place"? If you close Audacity, then re-open it and start a new Audacity Project, do you still have the same problem? I ca...

Re: recording a sibelius file on to Audacity
It says it's recording but there's no waveform appearing and no sound on the playback, so it clearly isn't. Well Audacity IS recording (which is good), but the trouble is that it is recording NOTHING (which is bad). Are you running on Vista by any chance? You need to enable recording from "ste...

Re: Chris's Compressor - Three Queries
1) It's a "bug" or "limitation" of the compressor, but a difficult one to fix in the code. The reason that it happens is because the effect is trying to keep a more even "average" volume level. Of course, when it gets to the end, the volume drops to zero, so in attempti...

Re: Records only left stereo track
Did i do it right? Not quite. That's showing; capture 1 ________ In 6 capture 2 ________ In 7 which is exactly what you want if you are using 2 microphones, but for one microphone you need to click on "capture 1" so that it is highlighted (as shown in your picture) and "In 7" so...

Re: How to add a carrier frequency
A simple op-amp circuit would probably sort that out by boosting the signal a little. You should be able to find a circuit that can be adapted in many op-amp project books. R.A. Penfold comes to mind.onlinetimc wrote:Note the generated signal was much weaker

Re: Can't Open Project File
I am using a 16GB USB drive for all my projects, as I use a couple of different computers - perhaps this is the problem. The projects range from 60MB to 900 MB, with about 1GB of free space. I certainly would not recommend working that way - there are just too many things to go wrong. As Koz says -...

Probably only worthwhile if you need to convince yourself or others that it is beyond repair.jtp_60 wrote:I would try some spectral repair tools found on iZotope RX and Adobe Audioion 3.
