Re: Can Audacity Record VoIP Conversations, or not?
Some people have a deal from Creative that says "What U Hear" but mine is just "Realtek HD Audio Input". So set the recording device for track 2 to "What U Hear" types of input. You may have to go inside your Windows System Mixer and enable or disable "Stereo Mix&...

Re: Subliminal Messages
"subliminal message" is very open ended and can refer to many techniques. All it actually means is that the message is below the normal limits of the human mind's perception (below the sensory threshold). The idea is that the subconscious can still be affected even though the message is no...

Re: Copy/paste partially muted
Sorry, I'm still not clear; "The source" is the original clip from which I make copy; Is that a "clip" in the same Audacity project? Are you cutting sections from one track and pasting them into a new track? Where do the original speech recordings come from? Have you recorded the...

Re: using Audacity as a simple sound meter
in decibels That's a tricky bit. Unlike cm or litres, dB are not an absolute measurement - they describe a ratio of loudness against some reference point. The meters in Audacity are referenced against "full scale" - that is, a range of +1.0 to -1.0 (these values are shown on the vertical ...

Re: Can Audacity Record VoIP Conversations, or not?
On a Windows computer, to record sounds playing on the computer AND the microphone requires that Audacity is set up to record from "Stereo Mix". The trouble is that Skype changes the settings to "Microphone" and switches "Stereo Mix" off. There are ways to work around t...

Re: Why can't I record in stereo with my USB turntable ?
I think it is more likely to be a fault - either with the turntable, leads, connections, or computer.
As you are using a Mac, it would usually be better to post questions on the Mac part of the forum rather than the Windows part of the forum.

Re: Yes, exporting mp3, but what about importing mp3??
Some Linux distros are very cautious about mp3 support. You will probably find an MP3 enabled version in their "restricted" repository. ("restricted" in the sense that it may contain code that is not entirely open source - there are some licensing issue regarding MP3 that some be...

My father used to say to me; "If at first you don't succeed.... read the instructions".
