Re: Plethora of annoying issues with Audacity- HELP!
I know the Exported Show does not respond to the mute and solo buttons on the left, In Audacity 1.3.x The Exported show DOES respond to the MUTE buttons. MUTED tracks are NOT Exported. The SOLO buttons are ONLY for listening to the show and DO NOT affect the Exported show. (can't remember how it wo...

If you need to give your computer a really good scan, try Avast (if it for home use then it is free). By default Avast will want to reboot your machine immediately after installation and run a full system scan. Allow it to do this and it will scan BEFORE Windows is loaded and is therefore able to fi...

Re: unable to access complete manual
The manual may have moved (possibly in preparation for the release of the new "stable" version of Audacity, but I don't know). The address for the on-line Audacity 1.2 manual is http://audacityteam.org/manual-1.2/ You can find links for additional documentation from the main Audacity web s...

I don't see why you should need to.

Re: Clip Fix..and Fix..and Fix..
Someone up the thread advanced the idea of a lopez filter to get rid of the harshness after the first correction. Apply only during the tiny corrected portion. Pick a swag number like 5KHz graceful roll-off to get rid of the last cracking snapping quality. That's not going to work. The "tiny c...

Re: Copy/paste partially muted
I was actually making short selection/copy from a recorded 44100 Hz mp3 clip (opened in an Audacity project), and then paste it to another newly opened Audacity project but did not realize the default rate in new Audacity project is 48000 Hz, Ah yes, NOW I understand ;) I'm glad you've got it all w...

Find this part of your control panel: (if you have trouble finding it, read the articles from the links that Kozikowski posted)
Take a screenshot of it and attach it to your reply.

Re: help for sound noise suppression ... (directSound)
On a scale of 0 to 1
Absolute silence is 0.0000
"Silence" is in the region of 0.000015 (1 bit - is that right?)
Very quiet is in the region of 0.001 (-60dB)
Self noise from a laptop microphone is in the region of 0.01
-20 dB = 0.1
-6dB = 0.5
Full scale = 1.0000

Re: Clip Fix..and Fix..and Fix..
Why not run clipfix 3 times by default?
ClipFix is a fairly slow plug-in already, do you want it to be 3 times slower?

Re: Clip Fix..and Fix..and Fix..
The resulting "Fixed" wave is close to a pure sine wave, but has some nasty-sounding harmonics. Yes it does, but nowhere near the level of the "nasty-sounding harmonics" that are created when you cliped the sine wave. Did you look at the spectrum of the clipped sine wave before ...
