If you compile from cvs code I think that you will find that libmad is included, so you should be able to build using the local version of libmad rather than your system version. I think the configuration option would be
./configure --with-libmad=local

I think that's the sum total of recent vocoder problems reported on the forum.edgar-rft wrote:...if you know about other problems with the vocoder ... just leave me a message here.

Re: Latency problem recording
The best solution is to monitor your keyboard directly (before it goes into your computer - for example from a headphone socket on the keyboard).
If this does not help, you will need to give a lot more detail about your set-up (what sort of computer/OS/keyboard/what's connected to what...)

Re: Software configuration
If you are on Vista, try the latest 1.3 (beta) version - it fixes many of the problems found with 1.2.6 on Vista.

Re: the next version of audacity
Read the rest of this topic. If you can't work it out from what has already been written you will be better to stick with an official release version (currently 1.3.9 beta if you are on Win XP or Vista).

Re: Cutting an mp3
I've not used MP3cut, but I can vouch for MP3Split. Easy to use and does what it says on the tin (and open source).
Installation of MP3Split is going to be easier as it looks like MP3Cut is only available as source code.

Re: Chris's Compressor - Three Queries
So I tried one thing: got the audio file converted to a lossless format with an external application (in this case I used SoundConverter and transcoded the file to FLAC). Then I opened the new file with Audacity, applied the compressor and... voilà! Worked like a charm! Have you checked that the &q...

Re: Jack 0.2.20 QT GUI + Audacity 1.3.6 + Pupitup Linux=cras
It's a triangle: Jack / Audacity / PortAudio Unlike other triangles, it isn't stable. Audacity CAN work with Jack, but it is extremely common for even experienced Linux users to have difficulty getting it to work. Audacity 1.3.9 and later are pretty stable using ALSA, even when Jack is running, but ...
