Re: AUP File format information
I'm pretty sure that every AU file has a header containing precomputed waveform data. I seem to remember that in old versions of Audacity the waveform data was just in a few of the AU files (for short recordings this would typically be the first two files). Looking at the AU files from a current ve...

There's also many other sites for sharing big files. I quite like http://www.sendspace.com/

Re: Steinberg MI4
It could just be that you're overloading the input.
Could you record a couple of seconds, export it as a WAV file and upload it somewhere, then post a link so that we can examine it.
If you've not got your own web space, there are plenty of free file sharing sites such as http://www.sendspace.com/

Re: Time Shift tool
That's because in Audacity 1.2 you could only have one audio clip per track. Audacity 1.3 supports multiple clips in the same track, so when you want to move one with the Time Shift tool, Audacity needs to know which clip you want to move. With Audacity 1.2 it would just shift everything in the trac...

Re: Importing MP3 files
If you are both using Audacity, you could use FLAC format for exchanging files. Flac files are bigger than MP3s but are about half the size of WAV files. Another alternative is to use OGG files. You get about the same compression amounts with ogg as you do with MP3. At high quality settings the soun...

Re: AUP File format information
I can't shed any light on the scripting module, other than to say that it is very new and very experimental. Unless you are something of an expert with Pearl and have a good grasp of the Audacity code base, it would probably be best to leave it alone for now. If you need to batch-process audio or do...

Re: Any Way To Get Ctrl+m To Add Handles To Both Sides Of La
Yes that's very clear Carl. This is one of the things that I like about Audacity, there are often several ways to accomplish a task so you can choose the method that best suits the situation. In step 4, when you want to check the label positions you can also do this: a) click in the label box (type ...

Re: Recording audio from MSN and Skype chat videos
Softpedia list Windows Live Messenger as "ad-supported" because "The setup downloader will ask if you wish to change your default homepage or search provider". That's the official Microsoft version. A "customised" version could have more serious security implications an...

Re: AUP File format information
What is the duration of one sample? That depends on the sample rate. The "sample" itself has no duration - it's just a number. When audio is converted to digital data, it is "sampled" (measured) several thousand times each second. The number of samples that are taken each second...

Are there any other options? Do you only have the on-board sound card or are there any other audio devices in or attached to your computer?ryleymo wrote:the default playback (and recording device) is set to C-Media
