Re: recording halfway through a track
In Audacity 1.3.9 you should be able to place the cursor at the place that you want to start, then press record. Audacity will create a new track(s) for the recording. If you select a region of an existing track before you hit the record button, then Audacity will start playing (and recording) at th...

Re: Imported song plays back very slow?
Audacity 1.2 can only handle certain file types - WAV, AIFF, MP3, OGG, FLAC.

Re: Underlying white noise
You can probably reduce it a bit using the "Noise Removal" effect. I'd suggest using Audacity 1.3.9 rather than 1.2.6 as the Noise Removal effect has been much improved. Best results are usually if you just reduce the noise a bit - if you try and take it all out the remaining sound becomes...

Re: "Judicious Sequencing"
There are tools to help with that in some expensive music programs such as Sonar and Cubase Studio, but they only really work if the tracks are already pretty close (they can automatically adjust the odd beat that is slightly off, but can't do anything with tracks that are a long way out). Programs ...

Re: Records only 0.6 secs on Ubuntu 9.04
Its most likely a problem with your sound system set-up.
Are you using a default install of Ubuntu (as far as the sound system is concerned)?

Re: Compiling Audacity with Asio
Is there a simple step by step procedure in plain English to enable Audacity to work with Asio? One that doesn't need in depth knowledge of programming - I've tried following the existing instructions - a bit daunting !!! I think the instructions are about as "simple" as they can be. I th...

I don't know what's an Intel and what's a PPC, but you know that 1.2.6 does not work properly on Mac OSX Intel. http://audacityteam.org/download/mac Well before we shift this topic across, just give Audacity 1.3.9 a go. http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_mac Don't worry about the "beta"...
