Re: Compiling Audacity with Asio

After I'd gone through all the rigmarole of registering with Steinberg so that I could download the ASIO SDK. I then tried to install TortoiseCVS but couldn't get it to work, so I went to Sourceforge and downloaded the Audacity source code from there. Then I saw that I needed to install Visual Studi...

Re: Underlying white noise

She's probably wearing an AKG C555L or whatever the wireless version of that microphone is. That may be the WMS450 (around $500 for the headset version), but I'd bet that Christina Aguilara would be more likely to use something like a DPA 4088 (over $600 just for the headset). Even the DPA's have a...

Re: Compiling Audacity with Asio

"SIMPLE?" This is the the preliminary info about the Audacity source code!!! Complete gobbledygook to me - it assumes so much prior knowledge which I don't have. I'm a musician - not a programmer! I know exactly what you mean - I'm a musician also - and that's why I've only once tried com...

Re: Steinberg MI4

Or, this could be a USB power problem. It certainly could, but it amounts to much the same thing. USB has trouble maintaining a consistent data flow at the best of times (at least in part because it is CPU dependent), but if anything interrupts the USB data (including a hub trying to share the conn...

Re: Import WAV problem

Go into Audacity Preferences (Edit > Preferences) and on the Quality tab, change the Default sample format to 16 bit or 32 bit. I suspect that it is on 24 bit and some Macs are known to have problems with 24 bit audio.

Re: Is This Something Audacity Can do?

Audacity does not support simultaneous recording from multiple sound cards. It does support some multi-channel sound cards but it is rare that anyone ever tells us their success stories so we only hear about the problems. You may find a few examples if you search the forum, but there's not many post...

Re: Audacity 1.39 problems with VST plugins, 1.38 is fine..

Audacity 1.3.8 uses the "VST bridge" plug-in (as it had no VST support on its own).
Audacity 1.3.9 now has built in VST support and should be used without the VST bridge.

There's an awful lot of VST plug-ins to test, so developing VST support is likely to be ongoing for quite a while.

Re: When i record, sound only comes out of the left headphon

Edit menu > Preferences > Devices tab.
Set Recording channels to "1 (mono)"

Does that work?
