Re: Unable to choose MP3 bitrate
My export dialog window (titled Edit Metadata), the one where I am supposed to add ID tags for the MP3 file only contains Add, Remove, Clear for Tags; Edit, Reset for Genres; and Load, Save, Set Default for Templates. The whole dialog window has OK, and Cancel. I do not see where to state desired b...

Re: Recording from Spotify
When recording sounds playing on your computer you need to set your sound system to record from "Stereo Mix" (if available on your computer). Many laptop computers will default to to recording from the in built microphone and that will produce very low quality. The Microphone input should ...

Re: recording halfway through a track
I was brave enough (foolish enough) jus to down load the alpha into a new folder and run it. Seemed to cause no preferences problems when I reverted to 1.3.9 for production use following this testing. It should not cause a problem, but using a "Portable Settings" folder is a quick and eas...

Re: Setting preferences
Everything was working fine until I was tweaking with my audio and I decided to import a song from my files. A karaoke version of the song. Ever since I did that I could not record anything anymore. Importing the karaoke song is most likely incidental. "Tweaking with my audio" may be rele...

Re: listening to cassette whilst being recorded
You need to set the operating systems mixer to play back the line input.
The mixer is usually accessed through a loudspeaker icon near the time/date.
There's also some information about the mixer here:

Re: Audacity Programming Newbie -- General Question
You may find that SOX is better suited for this as Audacity is almost entirely GUI based.miketwo wrote:I want to use Audacity as a base for this because I think the plugins and effects (like Notch Filters and such) will help later on in removing noise and matching sound patterns.

Re: enable software playthrough and I can't record
If you are using PulseAudio you do not need to enable software playthrough - in fact you should not use software playthrough as it can introduce a feedback loop. If you are using PulseAudio, install Pulse Volume Control and the Pulse Device Chooser (if you have not already). You can then use the Pul...

Re: 1.3.9 Beta Segmentation fault on loading in Ubuntu Jaunt
I had a segmentation fault issue with a very recent cvs build (on Ubuntu 9.04). The problem there was that I had installed over a previous version and it didn't like it. A full un-install, and deleting the hidden "/home/<user name>/.audacity_data/" folder, then running "make clean&quo...
