Re: Talking Newspaper for the Blind

The upper frequency output on most sound cards is limited to around 20kHz. Copying sounds from the sound card at 4x would give your tapes a frequency response of up to 5kHz when played at normal speed, which should sound OK for speech but rather too dull for music. (There's got to be some awesome fr...

Re: Firefox does not retreive ogg from cache?

Firefox 3.5 should support Ogg natively. https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Using_ ... in_Firefox

Perhaps the file association has been hijacked by something else.
Look in "Edit > Preferences > Applications" and see if anything is listed for Ogg files.

Re: recording halfway through a track

I think it was felt by some that if you were not recording against playback you would be very unlikely to want to restrict yourself to recording a region, so letting recording carry on past the region was more user-friendly in that the user did not have to deselect first. I think it's a questionabl...

Re: Bluetooth - output device fails

Do you know what rates the Jabra BT2040 supports? (from the Jabra BT2040 specifications)
Are you really using the 1.2.x version of Audacity?

Re: Talking Newspaper for the Blind

If Audacity could produce a high speed analogue SHRIEK signal this could be head to head coupled into our Copier`s master cassette slot, or wired into its replay circuitry. In fact, to increase Audacity`s 3X speed facility to 20X. Audacity can play files a number of times faster than "real tim...

Foobar2000 is also one of the best audio players available for Windows - it plays almost all known audio file types and is on my "recommended list" ;)

Re: sound on laptop not working

This is a very common problem on Windows. (note to self - perhaps it should be in the Audacity FAQ). When you connect a USB audio device to a Windows computer, Windows automatically allocates both input and output to the USB device. If the USB audio device is an input only device (such as a micropho...

Re: Metadata Editor in Export Multiple

I've not tested this problem, but Audacity is not a particularly good tool for transcoding files (not what it was designed for). Have you tried Foobar2000? (it's free).

Re: [Bug,1.3.9] Crash when using much RAM

Can the program's behaviour be modified somehow so that it doesn't have to deal with such large chunks of data? This is a known problem with Nyquist effects in Audacity 1.3.9 It has been fixed in Audacity 1.3.10 alpha If you would like to try the latest alpha version it is available here: http://wi...
