Re: make background vocals sound clearer and louder
If you have a multi-track recording with the vocals on their own track(s), then yes no problem. I suspect you have a single stereo track, in which case there is not much you can do. You can try fiddling with the Equalizer effect to see if you can bring them out a bit.

Re: Setting preferences
OK, good. I'm going to suggest using the 1.3.9 version (don't worry about the 'beta' status - on most machines it's actually more stable than the 'stable' version). If you're lucky it'll just work - if not, we may need to do a little bit of tweaking, but at least we now know where we are starting fr...

Re: enable software playthrough and I can't record
Please note that I said " IF you are using PulseAudio". If you are not using PulseAudio, then please disregard my previous message, but if you do have PulseAudio running, then you should have Pulse Volume Control and Pulse Device Chooser as they are essential parts of PulseAudio's recommen...

Re: Leveller effect adds distortion
In case anyone is interested - here is a simple plug-in for "soft clipping". Yes it produces distortion - soft clipping does that. For experimental purposes, values outside of the default ranges may be used by typing directly into the boxes rather than using the sliders. WARNING. Processin...

That's what I'm using and it works.Windrose wrote:The current Ubuntu level for automake seems to be 1.10.2
For a lot of the dependencies you need to install the -dev packages.

Re: viewing pitch levels of recording
If there is a sufficiently clear primary tone, then selecting "Change Pitch" from the Effects menu will show the note.

Re: Audio Disappered but still plays?
Without knowing what you have done it is difficult to tell you how to undo it. I would strongly recommend that you Export each track in your project in WAV format as soon as possible. I don't know what you've done, but it does not sound good.

Re: Problem trying to compile Audacity in Mac. Please help!
I think there's something fishy in step 3.
What patch are you trying to apply?
A patch can only be applied to Audacity source code, not to the compiled program.

Re: audacity v1.3.9
Without going through a whole load of Q & A and trying things out - if Audacity 1.3.7 worked for you why not go back to it for now?

Download a copy of SUPER by erightsoft (it's free but it's a pain downloading it because of the link jungle, but keep hitting the download links and avoiding the advert links and you'll get it - it's worth the effort because this is a really good format converter with several other very nice feature...
