Re: Using Audacity on Asus EEE PC 901

If you managed to record more than a few minutes, then it is clearly fast enough. It may struggle if you try to multi-track.
Note that audio recording and editing uses a LOT of disk space - take care that you do not inadvertently fill the drive.

Re: Audacity or Reaper

The Line6 will probably work better with Reaper as Reaper supports ASIO. Note that Reaper is not Free. It is free to try (without any restrictions on use), but the guys that wrote the program are trying to make a living by selling their work at a very reasonable price. Reaper does not "edit&quo...

Re: How to make a sound effect repeat

You are asking about "glitch free looping" - and it is a bit of an art. There are various techniques, depending on what kind of sound it is. One method that works well for "pad" sounds (long, non-percussive sounds) is to make the loop in three overlapping parts. You need Audacity...

I understand your hesitancy, but 1.3.10 alpha is the same as 1.3.9 with some bug fixes. The developers are not adding any new features, just killing all known bugs before it is released as Audacity 2.0 (stable).

Re: Audacity will not record.

Audacity 1.2.6 is pretty old now and there are problems appearing on newer hardware, which are not going to get fixed as the new "stable" version of Audacity (2.0) is due to be released soon, I would recommend that you download and install Audacity 1.3 from here: http://audacityteam.org/do...

Re: Audacity can not find Help/Manual files placed in help f

I wonder is this something peculiar to Macs or OS X? Yes it is. Mac + Audacity 1.3.9 The problem has been fixed in the 1.3.10 alpha version which is available here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Nightly_Builds (I'm not a Mac user, but I tracked down this post: http://forum.audacityte...

Re: Overdubbing, Audio to Buffer and Latency

You will hear all the way to the end of the region you selected I've just tested that, and playback (on this computer) is ending just before the end of the selection. I see your point about it being slightly imprecise, but since Audacity does not do drop-in recording into the same track*, are there...

it not only finished the configuration sequence but also built and installed without collapsing and even loaded and Has Not Blown Up after a good ten minutes of running! Super :D I had somehow leaped to the conclusion that since libmad et al. was included in the audacity package from CVS, that woul...

May be worth http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Live+Chat?new_chat It is an unusual question so think carefully about how you phrase the question and type it out before you go on so that the question is clear and that it is clear why you are asking. Initially I thought that you may be unable to pla...

Re: Overdubbing, Audio to Buffer and Latency

the length of time added to the end of the overdubbed track is determined from the Audio to Buffer setting, not from the Latency Correction setting. I'm not a programmer, but I would imagine that what is happening is that Audacity gets to the end of the selection and stops recording new data, but i...
