Re: EQ, Compression, Reverb Help (audio newb)

For that track, I used Freeverb with these settings: Roomsize: 0.700 Damping: 30-50% don't remember exactly Predelay: 0 High/lowpass: 0 Wet: 0 Dry: -endless That's interesting - the Linux version of Freeverb does not have the Predelay option. I assume that this is the same as we were doing by addin...

Re: Recorded track but won't play back or save file

There should some folders in the Audacity temporary folder that have a whole load of small files in them. I think that the default location of the temporary folder is C:windowstempaudacity_1_2_temp If you are able to open up Audacity Preferences you can check the location by looking in the "dir...

Re: Recorded track but won't play back or save file

This is not looking good. At any stage in this Audacity session, did you "Save" the project? Are you currently keeping the computer switched on with an unsaved project in the hope that we can recover the recording before you need to reboot? Do you have a second computer available to work o...

Re: EQ, Compression, Reverb Help (audio newb)

OK, after playing around with 1.3 and the plugins you recommended I was able to get a great sound. Very nice :D The only remaining slight issue is one spot in the track where there is unwanted "resonance," almost a feedback-like sound. Here's a clip of that: Oh dear, that's a bit weird. I...

Re: EQ, Compression, Reverb Help (audio newb)

EDIT: the original file is WMA (off a cd) I'm guessing that you ripped the CD using Windows Media Player. Ripping directly to WAV avoids the losses caused by WMA encoding. It is possible to configure WMP to rip directly in WAV format, but a better solution is to use a better CD ripper such as C-Dex...

Re: Recorded track but won't play back or save file

Here is workaround that I hope will get you out of the immediate problem. This is for Audacity version 1.2.6 ONLY. 1) Make sure that you have pressed "Stop" and are not just paused. If Audacity is paused you will get the symptoms that you describe and clicking the Stop button will resolve ...

Re: Can Audacity support a Winamp Plug-in?

Sorry, it's not my website and my web-browser (Firefox) is configured to block that kind of stuff silently. No problem. I removed the link for the benefit of those using less secure (or less securely configured) browsers. Is this the same plug-in? (on the official WinAmp web site) http://www.winamp...

Go into Preferences and on the Interface tab make sure that "Clean Speech Mode" is NOT selected.

Re: Can Audacity support a Winamp Plug-in?

There are several plug-ins listed on that page and you have not said which one you are asking about. Also, that page attempts to automatically install something on the visitors computer. I don't know what it is trying to install, but I do not intend to give it the opportunity to do so. Audacity does...
