Re: Help with recording/mic and OSS, Audacity 1.3.9
It may be worth seeing if you can get hold of Igor Chernenko (igorche) on the Audacity-Nyquist mailing list. You will need to subscribe to the list to be able to post there, and you will need to be extremely polite as you question is off-topic for that list (which is primarily about Nyquist plug-ins...

Why do you want to use OSS? It's pretty well obsolete (unless you mean OSS4, in which case you need to remove or blacklist ALSA)

You may have trouble getting an up-to-date version of Audacity for RHEL unless you build Audacity from source - I think they are only up to version 1.3.0b.jehurd wrote:Heading to RHEL soon.

Re: Problem with importing MP3 after LAME
If the file is less than 50MB, could you upload the file onto the internet somewhere and post a link. http://www.sendspace.com/ is pretty good (and free).

Re: clickiing noise I can't get rid of...
Fascinating. It shouldn't. I understand that DC Removal is a super version of the manual graphic equalizer filter. That is, it will not pass any frequencies below about a quarter or half cycle per second. Some really tiny number. There are different ways of achieving DC offset removal, and none of ...

Re: Problem with importing MP3 after LAME
I want to edit an MP3 file. When I go to import it, Audacity tells me it can't do it, and to try importing the raw data. When I do that, it only plays static, and I can't tell where I want to edit. Audacity supports importing of MP3s natively - it does not require Lame for importing MP3s, only for ...

Re: Opening project hangs Audacity 1.3.7
Experiences like this has been so far, are bad enough to make me reconsider Windowz. No need for such extreme measures. Audacity 1.3.10 works really well on Jaunty (and Audacity 1.3.9 is not too bad either). If you know how to compile a program from the source code I would recommend installing the ...

Re: missing initial sounds
I have a noise floor recorded during the breathing (about -70db) but then the pickup of the next speaking sound SOMETIMES gets missed for a few milliseconds. A noise floor of -70dB seems almost too good - usually computer fan noise, central heating systems, breathing and so on push the noise floor ...
