Re: MP3 Speech sounds bubbly at 96kpbs
I need to convert lectures from their original 16-bit WAV and 320 kbps MP3 format down to 96kbps MP3's for audio streaming. You will get much a better sounding MP3 if the recording is mono rather than stereo. If you have a stereo track, convert it to mono before exporting. If you use Audacity 1.3.x...

Re: Change tempo dirty results
Nothing "wrong" - it's just an unfortunate consequence of stretching. The way that stretching works is to cut the music in tiny pieces, space the pieces out as required (duplicating pieces as required) and merging all the bits back together again. This is most definitely not a "lossle...

One at a time, rename them back to their original file name and hope nothing breaks.

I have 1.2.6....is 1.3 stable? Probably more stable than 1.2.6 What is the Chains multiple recursive activity tool? No idea about the "recursive activity" bit, I think Koz made that up. "Chains" is a method of being able to do some processing on batches of files, or to semi-auto...

Re: Export WAV as 256kbps, 16 bit, 16 khz, mono
Use Audacity 1.3.9
Set the project rate at 16kHz
Make sure that the show is mono, if not, convert it to mono
Export the show as 16 bit Microsoft PCM

Make a note (on paper) of exactly where they are and temporarily rename them (example - lame.dll.bak)

Re: Create sequed mix
I think I covered all of the step in my earlier post. The piece that you are currently missing: When you have finished, add labels and "Export Multiple" as described here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Splitting_recordings_into_separate_tracks You will then need to use a CD ...

Re: Shorcuts for 'stop' and 'record' buttons etc
"R" = Record
"SHIFT + R" (or whatever the equivalent is on Mac) = Append Record
"P" = Pause / un-pause
"Shift + Spacebar" = loop play
The "Keyboard" section of "Preferences" (from Edit menu) will show all default keyboard short-cuts.

Re: Cutting out Instrumentals
You could try this trick: Import the original file as track 1 Import your "Instrumental version" with the vocal removed as track 2 select track 2 and do Effect > Invert. When you play both tracks together, you should have the original minus the instrumental. The result is unlikely to be p...
