It should be safe, but I like "belt and braces" safe, so I would save the project with a new name, then use the new version in the latest nightly build of Audacity.

Re: Recording at 24bit appears to be 16 bits padded to 24bit
I would have thougt this is a pretty major issue. Not really. The only people to notice the problem are those that look very closely at the waveform. For best quality sound you should do all processing in 32 bit on 32 bit tracks, but the difference between starting with 24 bit audio and 16 bit is v...

Re: having trouble with export section
Try this: 1) Open Audacity 2) Generate menu > Tone > Generate Tone button. 3) Press "Play" - you should hear the tone. 4) File menu > Export as MP3 5) Give it a name and Export the file to your desktop 6) Click the "Save" button Does this produce a working file? If not, can you i...

Re: can't find folder on PC
But i don't understand the risks of logging on as administrator. Could you explain that? Example - It's late at night - you've been looking up some stuff on the Internet and now you are about to go to bed. Just before you shut your web browser there is a pop-up window. It asks if you want to buy so...

Re: Splitting and Time Shift
You have to unlink audio and label tracks first, apparently. I had been warned about this track setting, but hadn't entirely understood. If I'm correct, that means I'll lose my correct label location when I use the time sliding tool? You should be able to leave "Linking" on and have label...

Re: Splitting and Time Shift
I'm in the biggest editing task I've ever been Keep plenty of backups (write them to CD if you are short of disk space). Make sure that you have a backup copy of all tracks in WAV format. Periodically, Save the project with a new name (myproject01.aup, myproject02.aup, myproject02.aup, ...) Make su...

Re: Deleting a segment
Making your edits at zero crossing points may sometimes help to avoid clicks at the edit points. However, it is not magic and does not guarantee a click free edit. If you make your edit points at places that are silent (or nearly silent) then you do not need to use Zero crossing points and the edit ...

Re: Splitting and Time Shift
How do I split a track in two, (without making a new track), so that with the time shift tool I can slide the right hand segment to the right, but the left segment stays where it is? Place the cursor where you want the split, then press Ctrl+I (that's the letter "i") is it perfectly accep...

Re: Trouble Opening WAV file for Editing
This is usually caused by files that have a .WAV extension, but are not really WAV files (they are not Microsoft PCM WAV) Unsupported file types will give this problem, though the current version of Audacity (1.3.9) will often give a warning that there is a problem with the file. Any file can have a...
