Re: Splitting and Time Shift

Yes it's "Ctrl+Shift+M" It is usual to write "Shift" and very common to use an upper case letter regardless. So "Ctrl+M" would be without the Shift key (which doesn't work) and "Ctrl+Shift+M" is with the shift key (and does work). If you look in Audacity Prefe...

Re: Trouble Opening WAV file for Editing

There is another type of CD called SACD True, I've heard of them but I've never actually seen one. (same goes for ghosts and albino tigers). Also, they still contain 16/44100 data for compatibility with standard CD players and unless you have a SACD player, then it is the 16/44100 CD version that p...

Re: Vocal Isolation Project Problem

I understand that, but I thought this was a special case because it sounds like it was digitally looped throughout the song. Plus, I'm a noob, but it seemed to me like the wave patterns were the same on the smallest levels, as to suggest that this is in fact correct. The important thing here is tha...

Re: Splitting and Time Shift

For the project I was describing I used the fade-in/fade-out effects in the Effects menu (well actually a slightly modified version of it). The "Envelope" tool would have been just too time consuming. The fade effect works over the selected region, so you can make the fade duration as long...

Re: Issue with Alt key when focus in label

I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to happen. (I don't get that on Linux, but do get it on Audacity 1.3.9 on XP SP3)
I'll put in a report and see what the developers say.

Re: Splitting and Time Shift

At times when I slide a snippet it pulls others in the same track along, and at other times it doesn't. This may be the thing that I mentioned earlier - if you select a clip that butts up to another clip, then selecting the entire clip makes the selection unpredictable as Audacity has to make a jud...

Re: Trouble Opening WAV file for Editing

Hi Bill :-) In Preferences > Quality, in the "High-quality Conversion" section I use "High-quality Sinc interpolation" and "Shaped" dither. I use "High-quality Sinc interpolation" and "Triangle" dither. There's very little to choose between them - sh...

Re: Trouble Opening WAV file for Editing

Standard audio CDs are always 44100Hz 16 bit. CDs that do not match this will probably not play in the vast majority of audio CD players. I went to 24-bit because that is what many of the "high-bit remastered" CDs that I have bought in recent years claimed to be, That will either be referr...
