Is this a portable cassette player?
They do exist, but it is hard to find portable cassette players that have line-out - most don't have it.

Re: Problem with either cassette deck or settings...

If your computer has "Line input" it is usually marked with concentric circles with an arrow pointing to the centre (a bit like an arrow in a target). (concentric circles with an arrow pointing out is the line output). These markings are usually very difficult to see without good light, so...

Re: Can't close Audacity, it keeps reloading

For Audacity 1.3.9, go to Edit menu > Preferences > Interface Tick the box that says "Closing Last Window Quits Audacity" (this is on by default, so I guess that you must have switched it on by accident at some point. Re-installing Audacity will copy the Preferences from your previous inst...

Re: Audacity stops recording after few seconds

You should be using Audacity 1.3.x (preferably 1.3.9 or later).
It is most likely a set-up problem - try different recording input/device options.
You have given no information about your operating system or your sound system (Ubuntu 9.04 with standard ALSA and PulseAudio installed)

Re: Listening to what u record in real time possible?

What-U-Hear is insanely dangerous Perhaps a little overstated - testing to see if a light socket is live by putting your tongue into it is insanely dangerous. Using What-U-Hear for recording anything other than sounds playing on your computer (such as internet radio) is the least favoured option. I...

Re: Bulk Normalize

Yes, upgrading to 1.3.9 is a good idea - it's much better than the old 1.2.6 No, it probably won't help you to install Nyquist plug-ins as the procedure is the same. Yes, Audacity 1.3 supports "type 3" Nyquist plug-ins which are not supported by Audacity 1.2 (a lot of Nyquist plug-ins do n...

Re: Error compiling Audacity 1.3.9 on Ubuntu 8.04

In the run up to Audacity 2.0, bug fixing is the only thing they are doing. I tend to keep a well test version "installed" (sudo make install), and regularly rebuild from cvs without installing. If you want to install more than one version on your computer, just add a suffix to the name wh...

Read this topic (it can save a lot of headaches and heartache) http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... ement_Tips

I regularly use Audacity, Audition and Protools in a work environment and I can assure you that it is possible to crash any of them.
