Re: Can't close Audacity, it keeps reloading
It's still odd though, one should still be able to close the program my clickng the red X or selecting exit from the file menu. It should close if you select "Exit" from the file menu - not sure if that's been tested on Windows 7. (Why are we still in the Audacity 1.2 part of the forum? H...

Re: Splicing problems
but having saved it to WAV and going back to it, I find I have fourteen separate bits of the recording. When you use "Save", Audacity saves the entire project in its native format - an Audacity Project. This is not an audio file! To make a normal audio file (such as a WAV file), you need ...

Re: Mastering Vinyl
If you want your CD to sound like the original you don't need to do any of that. Just clean the record, check that you turntable and stylus are in good condition, and record it. You may want to try and reduce any clicks, crackles and background noise. Audacity 1.3 contains some tools for this such a...

Re: Trouble Opening WAV file for Editing
Is there a way, when recording or listening, to have the current location of the music remain at the center of the screen, allowing the time to scroll by, rather than traveling left-to-right, then jumping back to the left? Currently, no. I have added your vote for this on the feature request page h...

Re: Bulk Normalize
That's the first time I've heard that MP3 causes some file damage or quality loss http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lossy_compression Is Wav a better format? It's lossless, so it's better in that way. however, the file size is considerably bigger. Any suggestions welcomed FLAC is a lossless compression ...

Re: Does not work on Vista; might it work on Windows 7
At present Vista is probably a better option for Audacity than Windows 7. Audacity does run on Vista, and is used by very many (millions?) of people on Vista. However there are a few Vista specific issues that you need to be aware of. See here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Windows_Vi...

Re: Trouble Opening WAV file for Editing
I have confirmed with 1.3.10-alpha-Nov 1 2009 that importing a 16-bit WAV or AIF file into a project where the default sample rate is 44100 and default sample format is 24 bits will cause this problem. MP3s import fine. I will report this to the -devel list. The developers have addressed this issue...

Possibly - it may have "upgraded" the sound card drivers.amye36 wrote:I installed Sony Acid Music Studio 7. Could this be somehow interfering?
Can you go back to a Restore Point from when Audacity was working?

Re: Can't "Save Project As"
An existing project with a new name (Save AS..) should work. Take care with naming files, they don't like special characters. Best to stick with letters, numbers, space, underscore and hyphen. Also, there has been a bug that can cause spurious "not writeable" errors, particularly if the pr...
